Aileen Casey, the artist / illustrator behind fifishead, is proud to be a Jersey girl! She graduated with a degree in graphic design from Montclair University and for the past 25 years has worked as an illustrator, graphic designer, print and direct mail production manager and marketing manager within the financial services and publishing industries in New York City, Philadelphia, Hartford and Bridgeport, Connecticut. As a young girl, Aileen’s parents learned quickly that being sent to her room was no punishment for bad behavior - she could spend hours there drawing characters and crafting little stories about their lives. As she grew older, Aileen realized this was her calling and pursued her degree in graphic design and illustration and she hasn’t stopped since.
The beginning! It was the late 90’s and Aileen was a successful businesswoman living in Philadelphia. Like most single adults, her life revolved around her job, leaving very little time for creative pursuits, and she was getting frustrated. She saw a circus poster in a toy store one day that inspired her. It was a picture of “fifi” with her head on a platter. This image embodied how Aileen was feeling (disconnected from her creative pursuits) and offered her great inspiration. Aileen purchased the life-sized poster and began to change her life. Within five years Aileen found the man of her dreams, got married, moved to Connecticut and fifi was born!
Fifishead is all about creating the thought, literally. What is in your head can come out in wonderful and creative ways! Our mission is to create art and design that makes people laugh, or at the very least crack a smile. We love color, humor and anything that flies. At fifishead, we illustrate, do graphic design and will paint anything that will sit still for a few minutes.Thank you for your interest!
